Flight of the Navigator

Me: Papa is the driver and I'm the navigator.
Keenan: And I'm the monkey!

Another gem from Keenan as we sat at dinner:

The blankets will come downstairs and turn into dragons.

Then, five minutes after he got into bed, he came back out crying, "There are dragons in my closet!"

Potty steps

Keenan started potty training last September and ended less than six weeks later. He just wasn't emotionally invested, so I went back to diapers. (I have read that this is a big "no, no".) The only carryover from the potty training was that we continued to emphasize that it is more than a little gross to use your pants as a toilet. Keenan, however, seemed unaffected.

Then today, after taking off his own diaper this morning and using the toilet properly, without supervision or any suggestion from anyone, he announced to me that he doesn't want to "poop in mine diaper anymore."

We're one step closer. I'm not holding my breath. But it's a good sign.

Delusions, continued

I asked Naomi if she would share one slice of her orange with me. She let me finish it.
"You're a treasure," I said. And since she's only 3, I defined treasure for her. Then she got me another orange. :)

Now she proudly tells everyone, especially her older sister, "I'm a treasure!"

Delusions of Grandeur

Adara and Naomi were playing, choosing their identities for their game of pretend.
"I'm Princess Ariel!" Said Adara.
"I'm the son of God," said Naomi.

Boy humor

I was getting Keenan dressed after washing his face and I brushed his ear. It was wet.  "Why is your ear wet?"
Keenan replied, "The fly put snails on it."

Mamacita

Adara accompanied me to two different church meetings last night. When we got home, she couldn't seem to go off by herself, so she slept in my bedroom. As she was settling in she said, "If Juliette wakes up in the night I'll go check on her."

What a sweet thought! She loves being a big sister!

Hoink, hoink!

What do you get when you cross a Tonka truck and a big, blue piggy bank?

I don't know, but if you hear a "hoink" you'd better get out of the way.
